Every second
year Golden Beach State School presents a musical and in 2023 it is Matilda. All children (grades 1-6) are welcome to be part of the
musical with students in grade 5 and 6 auditioning for the lead roles. Students
who are not going for a lead role, do not need to audition.
Rehearsals
and show
Rehearsals
will be during lunch breaks and the number of weekly rehearsals will depend on
how many scenes their character is in. Performers need to be available
for both rehearsals and shows. Further details and times needed to rehearse will be advised closer to the dates.
There will be grandstand seating for
our shows. This is a huge expense, but certainly worth it. Ticket price TBA and
is set in conjunction with the show owner and the school.
Costumes
Lead
costumes will be supplied, but the students may need to supply extra items,
e.g. shoes or extra parts.
If your child is not a lead, you will need to supply their costume. Information will come out when parts are allocated.
Cast shirts
We always
produce a cast shirt for our musicals. It is not compulsory to purchase one but
the majority of children do buy them. Cast members are given permission to wear
their cast shirt to school on a nominated school day and they feel like superstars and to the Sunday
rehearsals.
USB
All
performers need to send a named USB to the music room for their lyrics and
recordings. One per family is fine.
Behaviour
If student’s
behaviour is unacceptable at school, Admin will decide whether or not they can
continue to part of the show. Negative comments about other cast members will
not be tolerated.
Attendance
Every day
counts!!
